Carl Linich-Man of Iron!

The Beginning

Carl was born in Poughkeepsie NY in 1936. He started to exercise at age 12 with floor push ups. He got his first weight set in July of 1951. He started with weights because he wanted to

become a wrestler. Carl became the New York State Y.M.C.A Heavyweight wrestling

champion in 1955 and repeated again in 1956.He won the Mid-Hudson Valley

Weightlifting championship heavyweight class in 1956 and also became

a Professinal Wrestler in 1956 at the age of 19.

Professional Life

Carl became a police officer with the Poughkeepsie Township PD in January of 1959 and worked there for 20 years and retired as Lieutenant. He participated in the first Police Olympics of New York State in Sept 1969 and won the Heavyweight wrestling championship. He

also started teaching at Dutchess Community College in January of 1969. Carl taught Self

Defense, Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Weight Training and Jujutsu and

retired after 32 years in December of 2000.

Lifting History

Carl's best lifts consist of:

Standing Press - 270 lbs.

Bench Press - 402 lbs.

Press From Behind the Neck - 245 lbs.

Jerk from the Rack - 310 lbs.

One Hand Clean and Press - 150 lbs.

One hand side press - 175 lbs.

One Hand Bent Press - 215 lbs.

One Hand Dumbell Bent Press - 205 lbs.

Carl is also an Elder at All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church in LaGrange N.Y.

He still works out with weights today but no longer does heavy lifting, just does

it for the love of the Iron!
